Basic rules: colors in Vastu

Colors are part of solar energy. The sunlight seems to white - but in reality it consists of the seven rainbow colors.

General rules

Colors may change the size and shape of any room.
Light colors seem to make a small room bigger.
Colors in vastu are an effecitve means to harmonize the environment - even on the physical level.
Warm, light Sattva colors improve the harmony in the house.

Color	place/ direction	further tips
white	color for the ceiling, white ceilings reflect the light. And white is an 'empty' color (in India: color of death), that's why Vastu recommends not paint the whole room in white.	Guna: Sattva

red	bedroom - because it arouses desire kitchen - on the walls and the floor	Guna: Rajas
yellow	study - because it stimulates the brain; also recommended for all rooms where brainpower is used (maybe the office)
orange	kitchen	Guna: Rajas
pink	meditation room - pink is good for introspection	Guna: Rajas
brown	don't use this color - it makes lazy	Guna: Tamas
dark blue	don't use this color - it makes lazy	Guna: Tamas
black	don't use this color - it makes lazy	Guna: Tamas
