At their foundation the Illuminati were an order with the great ideals of Enlightenment: majority and liberty. At their ban in 1784 they were considered as a dangerous conspiracy. Afterwards they disappeared for hundred years. Today they are considered as wire-pullers of the world conspiracy. What favoured this renaissance?

Are we marionettes on the Illuminatis' fingers?

The Secret Societies of the 19th Century

At the time when the Protocols of the Elder of Zion emerged, a man in France ensured for the reviving of the Big Conspiracy: Leo Taxil. Secret Societies have become salonable, Rosicrucians and Freemasons advertise in newspapers, the church loses influence. In 1848 Pope Pius IX was dispelled from Rome. The Freemasons played a considerable role in this revolt. In response the Vatikan turns to a strict anti-freemasonic policy.

What to do? The conspiracy club was unpacked, a long-proven means. Taxil, with the civil name Gabriel Antoine Jogand, first fought against the cleric. He quarreled with the curia, spent years in prison… an eventful career. The “Protocols” are actually only the logical consequence of this epoch, in which secret societies are no longer secret. A time, in which the Illuminati are already history. And a time, in which one speaks of world domination plans for the first time.

The (In)official History of the Illuminati

In short the story goes like this: The Illuminati went underground, Weishaupt emigrated straightway to the new world. There he replaced the president, founded the USA and lifted his co-conspirators to the corridors of power. In Texas he infiltrated a family dynasty named Bush, who should direct the fate of the world 200 years later. Whoever has rank and/or name in the world of industry and policy today can be traced back to the Illuminati.

Thus having exposed the Illuminati, the further is easy. A writing by Svali reveals the goings of the Illuminati: The Illuminati form a network with three focuses:

• the German line supervises the other two
• the British line is busy with the finances (wasn’t Rothschild the sponsor of the Illuminati?)
• the tasks of the French/Russian line are not described exactly; they are probably the executive organ

“All three branches are represented in the USA and Canada, as well as in every other country of the world.” (Svali: Illuminati. The Cult Rules the World) Nevertheless, nice to read that the “German line” gets into the act well :)

Dark Europe

These theories resemble the hostile statements of the Vatikan concerning the Illuminati. But essentially they can be traced back to two men:

• At the beginning of the 19th century Abbé Barruel wrote the secret history of the Illuminati Order as world conspiracy. He saw its origins in old Babylon. From there they came to Europe with the heretics and - naturally - the Jews. These theories contributed considerably to Adam Weishaupt’s popularity.
• At the end of the 19th century the best-selling author Leo Taxil (the Dan Brown of the 19th century?) exposed the world domination plans of the Freemasons. And as everybody knows, the Freemasons are the ignorant arm of the Illuminati. At least, since Weishaupt and Knigge had infiltrated the Masons.

The “Truth” of the Freemasons

In reality the Freemasons are an internationally operating satanic cult, whose goal is the downfall of the west. Here we find it again - the New World Order. According to Taxil the Superior of the Palladists undertook a journey to Sirius together with Luzifer himself. Friends warned not to become too fantastic so that the conspiracy would seem convincing. However, they were disabused: The more cracked the activities of the (not existing) order, the better Taxil’s writings sold.

Thus, “the pornographer who crept from the holy water pot” (“La Réforme” about the unloved Taxil) published numerous illustrated books. They reached up to 45 editions, six-digit sales figures, and were translated into several languages.
