Children embody new life and vitality, their energy is different from that of adults. Since little children go to sleep early, when the sun is in the west, the best place for a nursery is the east-side of the house. It's especially important that the room has windows to the east so that the rising sun shines in the room and sends new energy.

Colours and pictures

Scientists discovered that children have difficulties to handle too much stimulation, they suffer from it and have problems to concentrate.

Do not use too many loud colours in the nursery. Concentrate on one basic color. Use light and friendly pastel colours. A clear, light atmosphere is useful in the nursery.

As we all know, children like pictures or even better, posters with pop stars, animals, actors or football stars... That's a delicate matter. Pictures and scenes of idols, pictures of wild animals (such as leopard, tiger, jackal, serpent, eagle) are inauspicious, according to Vastu. If your child likes this 'cool stuff', listen to  him and after that explain the rules of Vastu. A solution could be to hang the posters away from the bed and beside of the table/ desk. So they don't bother homework and sleep.

Important directions in the nursery

A pretty, decorated crib has a good place in the south or west. According to Vastu Vidya looking to the east sharpens the intellectual power, so the place for painting or homework is right here. Wardrobe and bookshelf are best in the north and west. The middle of the nursery should remain vacant for playing. Computers or TVs are not recommended in the nursery since electric appliances have an unfavorable effect on the room and may interrupt the sleep.
