Pendulum introduction

ring

Of course, you need a pendulum to begin with the exercises. If you don´t have one, you can use a ring or earring, fastened on a thread or a chain. Basically you can say: It does not depend on the pendulum, but on the diviner!

Before you begin with the exercises breathe deeply several times and concentrate.

The pendulum posture

Pendulum posture
  • Sit down on a chair at a table and relax. It is important that both feet touch the ground.
  • Now take up the pendulum thread and hold it loosely between forefinger and thumb. Right-handers take the right, left-handers the left hand.
  • Slightly bend your upper part of the body forwards.
  • Support your elbow on the table.
  • Take care that the whole body and especially the arm are relaxed.
  • Try now to hold the pendulum as quietly as possible.

The first movements with the pendulum

If you feel relaxed and quiet and the pendulum doesn´t move, you can begin with the first movements.

Right-Left-Oscillations

  • Look at the pendulum.
  • Imagine how it will look like if the pendulum oscillates from one side to the other.
  • It is like watching tennis: your eyes move t
  • Now fix the pendulum with your eyes and try to move it to the right, then to the left and then to the right again.
  • Do not loose patience if it does not work immediately. With some practise the pendulum will move with the eyes.
  • When the pendulum starts to swing, trace it even more intensely with your eyes.
  • Move it further to the right and to the left until it swings widely.
  • If you succeed, try to stop the pendulum again with the eyes.
  • If you do not succeed in spite of several attempts, show the pendulum once what it is supposed to do, by moving it with your hand. Stop it then and try the exercise once more.

Circle

  • Begin with oscillating the pendulum from one side to the other.
  • If your pendulum oscillates in that way, imagine how it will be if it begins to circle.
  • Again trace the movements of the pendulum with your eyes and remain relaxed.
  • Now imagine that your pendulum circles. The movements get rounder and rounder and rounder, until the pendulum circles completely.
  • Try out to circle the pendulum clockwise and anti-clockwise.
  • Stop your pendulum several times and begin again. By this you will become acquainted with the movements. In addition, you get the confirmation that it is not by chance how the pendulum moves.
  • If you do not succeed in spite of several attempts, show the pendulum once what it is supposed to do, by circling it with your hand. Stop it then and try the exercise once more.

Answers with "Yes" or "No"

Each pendulum has its individuality. To find out how your pendulum answers, you must find out first what means "Yes" and what means "No".

  • Hold the pendulum quietly and loosely.
  • To get in the mood let it do a few circles and swings.
  • Now stop it.
  • Close your eyes and say internally something like: "Hello pendulum, please give me a sign for 'Yes'! "
  • Open your eyes, look at the pendulum and ask the same question once again. This time you look at the pendulum quietly and relaxedly and await events.
  • The pendulum will start to swing after some time. These swings can be forward/backwards, to the left/to the right, a clockwise or anti-clockwise circle or also diagonal.
  • Suppose your pendulum swings to the left and to the right.
  • Stop it again.
  • Check the answer, asking: “A right-left-oscillation means 'Yes'?"
  • Ask the question several times, until you are sure.
  • If you receive another reaction, ask the first question again. Repeat this until you receive unequivocal answers.
  • Do the same for "No".
To give the pendulum the possibility to give no answer, you should do the exercise also with the following question: "Hello pendulum, give me a sign for ‘no answer’!"

I recommend to check the yes-no-answers once again before every pendulum session.
