House-Help: Remove Water-Stains

remove water stains

Water-stains from glasses on wood-furniture are annoying. Water can strongly damage your tables.

If these stains are removed fast, however, they are usually no problem and furniture and tables remain beautiful for a long time.

Water-rings on wood-furniture develop if water gets under the surface. This happens e.g. when putting a hot cup on a wood-table.

But also the water of an iced glass may cause these milky, white stains. Usually they occur on lacquered surfaces.

How to remove water stains on wooden furniture

[adsense:300x250:1:1]

Wait for one day before treating the spot with the water stain.

Some stains disappear when the moisture dries off. I

f this is not the case, remove the stain with the following means:

  • A mixture of wax and ethyl alcolhol,
  • or toothpaste and water,
  • or salad-oil and ashj
  • or olive-oil and salt.
  • A mixture of household-ammonia and hot water is also possible.

Rub off the water-stain with one of these means. When the water-stain is removed, lacquer the spot again, or polish the treated place with furniture-wax.

An other mixture from my Grandma:

1/3 Balsam-Turpentine (resine from pine!)
1/3 Linseedoil
1/3 Cider-Vinegar
Fill the mixture in a bottle and shake it very well. Take a non fuzzing cloth and rub off the water-stain with the mixture. Polisch the treated place after drying.
