House-Help: Shining Bathroom and Fittings
![]() |
Even the most beautiful bath, the most beautiful, shining tiles, tubs and fittings can become dully in the course of time.
It often means a lot of work to get everything shiny again. But that doesn't need to be. With a little daily care you can prevent dull films in Your bathroom.
How to keep your bath and fittings shining
Take the time to dry the tub and the fittings with a cloth after every shower or washing. This doesn't take much time and the bath always looks brilliantly clean. Lime and soap residues can not accumulate on fittings and taps. Keep a dry cloth ready for this. An old towel is very suitable for this purpose.
However, if there are already dull films I take a microfibre cloth and moisten it with vinegar. With this damp cloth I clean the fittings, the tiles, the wash basin, and bath tub or shower. Citric acid is even better. It is available as powder and is dissolved in water before use. Citric acid can impact on the material longer in case of heavy calcifying. Acetic acid is less suitable, since it evaporates faster.
Also soda-water is very well suited for cleaning the bathroom and fittings. It leaves no scratches on the surface. If grooves or chinks of the fittings are dirty, a small brush helps. Dip the brush in soda powder and brush the parts to be cleaned. Rinse it with clear water.
