Here is how to design and furnish your bathroom according to the rules of Vaastu Shastra.

The bathroom is the place of purification in your house. The bathroom should be clean and shiny. Fragrance oils and plants support a clear and purifying atmosphere.

The location of the bathroom in your house

The bath is assigned to the moon. The east and north are suitable for your bathroom. The most suggested place is in the east direction. First of all, because the mild rays of the morning sun are beneficial for cheerful day and  for health. Your body absorbs first sunrays while bathing; therefore bath room in the east side is good.

Maybe you know old Yoga tradition to offer prayer to the rising sun? This' the Surya namaskar, the worship of the sun. Vastu design goes back to this tradition and transforms spirituality into home-design.

Advanced rules for the bathroom:

• In general, a plain floor is recommended. The bathroom is an exeption: it's very good, when the floor has a slight slope to the north or east. It's for the water and for the energies.
• Water should drain out to the north.

The colours in the bathroom

Light, fresh colours are suitable for the bathroom. The colours blue and pale green are best. Think, for example, of Turkish baths.

The arrangement of the furniture in the bathroom 

For the position of the furniture in your bathroom the directions are important.

• The north - a good direction for the mirror and all reflecting surfaces
• The east - alternative place for mirror and reflecting surfaces, such as tiles
• The south - toilet, bath tub. Vaastu Shastra recommends to place the bath tub/ shower in the south-east corner. Having tiles on the eastern wall, it is a perfect bathroom design.
• The west - bath tub. West is the second choice for placing the tub.
