The location of the study in your house

If you study or work mentally the north is best for your study. For the conclusion of agreements the best choice is the southwest.

The north is assigned to the planet Jupiter, he expels the darkness and as a teacher of the gods he symbolises knowledge and wisdom.

While studying, you should sit facing north or east. Your table should not stand near a wall. While facing the wall, your thoughts have no room to explore. Imagine you sit on the chair in the picture above. - Would you like it? Could you be creative? Even bookkeeping would require great efforts on this place.

According to Vaastu Shastra book-shelfs are best placed along the north or east side. A statue of the favourite god or goddess may be kept in the north-east. Give Him or Her a worthy rostrum.

The colours in the study

Light colours are suitable for the study. According to the rules of Vastu Vidya yellow is the colour which stimulates the nervous system and the brain. Therefore, it is the ideal colour for a study and other rooms in which the mind is active.

The arrangement of the furniture in the study

For the position of the furniture in your study the directions are important.

• North-east: desk, fountain
• South-west: cabinets, wastepaper basket
• South-east: computer and other electric devices

For the desk it is advisable to avoid metal and plastic, prefer wood or marble.

It is important not to stare at a wall, but to have a clear view when you lift your head.

Pictures on the north or east wall which show water or other symbols of prosperity, fresh flowers, and pleasant smells symbolise abundance.
